John and Emilie had a beautiful fall wedding after the arctic January portion of November had passed us by. We started the day getting ready at the Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown Kansas City, where we photographed hair, makeup, putting on the dress and the whole nine yards. That has become one of my favorite places to shoot the getting ready portion of wedding days because the rooms are large enough and have some nice, sophisticated decor. They had the wedding ceremony at Our Lady of Sorrows and we hadn’t photographed there before. It was a vast and beautiful church that was a gorgeous backdrop for their wedding. After we did some bride and groom and wedding party photos around the downtown/Crossroads area (let’s be honest, John and Emilie can work it out in photos), we headed to the reception at Boulevard Brewery. Once again, they were fortunate that the weather for the wedding day was pretty mild, so everyone really got to take advantage of the killer patio that Boulevard offers looking over downtown. It seemed like John and Emilie built the wedding primarily around having the reception at Boulevard, so it was awesome that they got a day where they could enjoy it to its fullest. Guys, thank you for having us to photograph your beautiful day, we hope you enjoy!
