John and Ciara had a beautiful wedding at Barn on the Ridge in Burlington, Iowa. It’s always a privilege to document and be a part of a genuine Christian wedding, and that was the case with these two. Ciara and her family go to the same church that we grew up in, so there were a lot of familiar faces for the day. They chose not to do a first look, and with a late ceremony that pushed past sunset, we had to get creative with the short portrait time that we had afterward. Fortunately for us, the skies were relatively clear that day and we had gorgeous color to take advantage of right in front of the water that sits behind the barn. It was very windy and pretty chilly, but things worked beautifully in the 10-15 minutes that we braved the elements. I’m on quite a roll with breaking equipment right now, breaking a lens, a PocketWizard and an umbrella in the last three months! I guess I get too excited about what I’m shooting and forget to actually be careful. Both times it has been at the very end of our portrait time, so it’s actually worked out to where it hasn’t been super crippling, other than for our bank account. Congrats John and Ciara, we wish you guys all the best!
