Brock and Jenae’s wedding was right in the sweet spot of Kansas City’s May-June wedding season. It was a really nice day even though rain threatened in the forecast (as it did for like 20 days straight). Brock and Jenae selected a number of our favorite wedding vendors to take care of them for the day, so that always makes things fun, and usually smoother! We started the day getting ready at the Ambassador Hotel downtown in Kansas City, where Jenae and all of her girls had their hair and makeup done (and basically made the place smell like beauty). Their wedding ceremony was at their home church—Legacy Christian Church in Lenexa, a church that we have shot several times and really enjoyed. The ceremonies are meaningful with messages that challenge and inspire couples to thrive together. Additionally, if you’ll let me geek out for a second, the lighting they set up there is very dramatic, so you can do some fun things with the ceremony shots.
The wedding reception was at the Berg Event Space, again in downtown Kansas City. It has long been one of our favorite wedding venues to shoot at. There are so many amazing details and finishes, and it’s a great setup for photography as well. DJ Kirby did a nice job mixing some beats that kept the party going. I love receptions!
Shout out to Erin Volante and her always amazing floral work for the day and Whitney of Confetti Events for planning/coordination.
