Bryan and Brittany were married on a stunning November day in Des Moines. Bryan was a groomsmen in our wedding, so there were lots of familiar faces throughout the day for us. It was like a reunion of sorts at the reception, and it was a lot of fun to document their wedding day! The day started off at the Hyatt Place downtown and me hanging out with a bunch of women in a pretty smelling room. They were having their hair and makeup done and I took pictures of it. The ceremony was at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines, and choosing not to do a first look beforehand, that is where they feasted eyes on each other for the first time. As Brittany was walking down the aisle and Bryan’s mom was losing it, I wrongly assured her that the emotional roller coaster was all downhill from there (sorry, Diane). In fact, there were lots more tears for her to shed throughout the day.
We spent some time taking some bride, groom and wedding party photos in between the ceremony and reception, and I’m really proud of the results that we were able to capture. I think there’s a lot of great variety, and there are several photos in their portfolio of images that I’m not shy about calling stunning. In particular, after we had basically wrapped up, I made us 5 minutes tardy to the reception, insisting that we take a few photos of the sun setting over downtown. SOOO glad I was a jerk like that. You only get one shot at moments like those, so I’m happy we took that little bit of time to create some life-long works of art.
The wedding reception was at the gorgeous Des Moines Embassy Club. We’re talking 34th floor with floor to ceiling windows that overlook all of Des Moines. Yo. Epic. And of course it was also styled to the nines. Britt walked into the space before the reception and was brought to tears. It was that good. So needless to say, I’m pretty happy with all the table decor and detail shots we were able to get at the reception as well.
As we wrap up, Bryan and Brittany, thank you guys for having us document and share the day with you. We hope you’re blessed by the photos and we’ll look forward to many more years of friendship (and golf), (and video games) with you guys. May you enjoy a lifetime of love and happiness together.
