Cory and Caroline’s Kansas City wedding was epic in size, uniqueness and fun. We journeyed back to our old stomping grounds in KC for their wedding day and I can confidently say that we have never shot Kansas City like we did with these guys. The forecast called for rain on their day all week, but then Caroline’s mom bought a collection of white umbrellas for photos. That’s the secret—if it’s supposed to rain on your wedding day, make plans for rain. Buy umbrellas or a super expensive tent, and it won’t rain. It might even be 70, sunny and absolutely beautiful like it was for these guys.
Their wedding ceremony was at the Cathedral of St. Peter in KCK. We did some photos afterwards at the Kauffman Performing Arts/Bartle Hall area while the wedding party enjoyed themselves on the the party bus. The reception was one of the most unique we have ever shot—it was under the 12th street bridge in the West Bottoms. They delineated the space with tent flaps that made room for the almost 500 guests. It was amazing to be outside in the city at night, yet still feel the intimacy of a reception celebration. They held a cocktail hour before the wedding at the Rumely Tractor Event Space right across the street. Caroline’s three sisters kicked off the reception with an amazing “toast” that was a modified rendition of “Sweet Caroline”. All of the spotlight dances were on point and DJ Fernando kept the party hot all night. Kudos to Cory, Caroline and their families for putting together a super fun reception that was unlike anything we have ever seen! Guys, thank you so much for having us photograph all of these memories! We wish you all the best in the years to come!
