I was a big fan of Paige and Lexy’s wedding day. You could tell they put a lot of effort into concepting the day, and they went out of their way to make sure their guests had a fun and memorable experience. From their carefully crafted signature drink (two varieties of Old Fashioned), to a homemade popcorn bar, to Lexy and some of his buddies firing up some Ian’s Pizza to share with the guests at the end of the night (all the way from his home shop in Madison), it’s safe to say that their day was far better put together than this sentence. They had an early ceremony at St Ludmila Catholic Church. From there, the hub of their wedding day was the beautiful Ashton Hill Farm in Cedar Rapids. It’s always a treat to shoot close to where we live, especially when that place happens to ooze awesomeness. Megan and her family have something special there. The venue is tailored specifically for weddings and it provides thoughtful (and beautiful) spaces for every facet of a wedding day—getting ready through the last dance of the reception. The secret is out though, as they are booking well into 2019 already!!
The weather was hot and humid. Like really humid. Our lenses instantly fogged up anytime we went outside, and there have only been a handful of times that we have experienced that, so you know it was serious. BUT, in the midst of all that humidity there is a major benefit—the evening clouds parted just enough at sunset to give us a raging sky of fire that you had to see to believe. It was a new all-timer! Paige and Lexy, you guys are awesome and we loved being a part of your day. We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness together! And if somewhere in this writeup it says Paige and Sexy, I’m sorry. It keeps auto-correcting Lexy to Sexy, which I suppose is accurate, but I still question its appropriateness.
