Before there was all of this rain, there was the heat and humidity that made the rain possible. And in the heat and humidity was precisely when Joe and Allison’s wedding day took place. With a laid back wedding party, and several refreshment breaks in between, we made the most of the day and captured some beautiful photos. We even delayed some of the photos until later in the day, which worked great with the more tolerable temperatures and the softly lit, hazy sunset. The ceremony was at the well air conditioned St Mary’s Church in Dodgeville. And the wedding reception and the bulk of the wedding day activities happened at the also well air conditioned Barn on the Ridge, just outside of Burlington, Iowa. Joe and Allison waited until after the wedding to see each other, so after the ceremony we traveled up to Mediapolis to capture a few photos in a different environment, and they also stopped at Coconuts Cabana, another well air conditioned venue, for a few of the previously mentioned refreshments.
Toward the end of the night, the heat had subsided, and it was actually pretty refreshing outside. There were more than half of the guests outside during the reception, taking advantage of the Barn’s great outdoor space, and the custom made yard games that were not going to be enjoyable during the heat of cocktail hour. There is nothing like having a great time outside under the stars. Joe and Allison, you guys had a beautiful day with lots of fun details to shoot. Thank you guys and your wedding party for being so chill despite the heat wave! Hopefully you’ll be able to look back at your day with cool thoughts as you enjoy these photos. We wish you guys nothing but the best!
