Cory and Sarah’s wedding was at the Celebration Farm in Iowa City, on what was a lovely June day. Temperatures did not climb above 80 degrees, AND there was basically no wind to blow the girls’ hair around! Speaking of hair, we started the day off making the girls beautiful with hair and makeup at Thompson & Co in downtown Iowa City. It just so happened to be the weekend of the Iowa City block party, so basically all of downtown was shut down, and parking was a debacle! We all made it though, and the girls were indeed beautiful. After navigating that nonsense, we headed out to the farm to finish preparations, all leading up to Cory’s first glimpse of Sarah in her immaculate dress that she bought from Pronovias while in Barcelona. It was sweet and special.
Word had it that there was a snake on the loose somewhere on the property, and Kara and I immediately got fidgety. I’m sure it was probably a little, baby garter snake, but who cares! Cory and Sarah can attest that I engaged in an embarrassing and skittish battle with nature during the time we took portraits of them. Man, they turned out great though, and there were no snakes, poison ivy or chiggers. Nature was kind that day.
They had the ceremony in the beautiful amphitheater that the farm offers, which really is second to none. I love some of the wide shots were were able to get there. Afterward, the reception was in the Double Round barn with a lovely meal from Blackstone and great entertainment, as always, from Unique Events.
Sarah and Cory, congratulations on your beautiful day, and thank you so much for choosing to have us along as part of it! We wish you all the best in your married life together . . . and enjoy that new house!

Amazing job! The Mother-of-the-Groom did try to attempt to assist us with wrangling the snake.
