Drake and Paige scored a legitimately perfect Saturday in June for their wedding day. Drake might have told you that it could have been 10 degrees cooler, but we’re still calling it perfect. They enjoyed the convenience of having both their wedding ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree in downtown Cedar Rapids, which was awesome! Having getting ready, photo ops, ceremony and reception all within a block is a beautiful thing that I highly recommend if you can make it happen. It’s so convenient for your guests and for the wedding party. It’s especially helpful if your wedding venue is as awesome as the DoubleTree as well.
Allow me to go off on a tangent here. I love seeing parents tear up on their kids’ wedding days because it’s an outward expression of how much these two are loved. It’s not embarrassing to lose it, it’s beautiful. (It makes it easier for me to tell a story with the photos too). I like photographing moments and days that mean something. All that to say, Drake and Paige’s wedding day had a depth and richness to it that we really enjoyed. They were clearly loved and it was a very special day of celebration for everyone in attendance. There are so many more moments of laughter and tears beyond what we’re sharing here, not to mention a certain mother that was seen on 1st Ave in her pajamas at 1:00 in the afternoon. I’m pretty sure a photo like that wasn’t on your Pinterest board. 🙂 At least her hair and makeup were all done up and looking fly.
