Connor and McKenna kept things pretty simple for their wedding day, with everything happening within a 1-mile stretch of Coralville, Iowa. (Again, simplicity of location is very underrated on wedding days!) We started the day getting ready at the Coralville Radisson, which is also where the wedding reception was held later that evening. In between, the wedding ceremony was at the beautiful Brown Deer Golf Club a half-mile north of there. If we’re honest, Connor and McKenna received about what you should expect for a mid-July Saturday—spotty clouds, some sprinkles and pretty warm with some humidity. Perhaps the biggest variable that I haven’t mentioned though was how absolutely still the air was. There was no wind moving at all, and that . . . wasn’t great. We were blessed with cloud cover from time to time, but even in sun, everyone powered through the day just fine—wedding party, guests, photographers. 🙂
It was fun to learn more about these two throughout the wedding day and their relationship, which dates back to their high school days. What all started 6-7 years ago, and persevered through college and lots of traveling, culminated in the hot ceremony celebration, where hundreds of their closest family and friends sweated it out to cheer them on. You could tell it was something that they have been looking forward to for quite a while. In Connor’s words from his letter (which is probably supposed to be private information, sorry), he wrote, “I’m just so damn excited to look at you today” . . . at least a couple times, I think. I’m pretty sure McKenna didn’t disappoint either. The same can be said for her emotional first look with her dad. Those moments with dad are quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of wedding days. At the reception, the food was good, the toasts were better, the dance floor stayed VERY full (with McKenna consistently right in the middle of it), and there was a ridiculous dessert bar with pie and soft serve ice cream. When you consider the totality of the day, the still, swampy weather wasn’t even a thing at all—it was a perfect day for Connor and McKenna. And guys, we thank you so much for choosing to have us be a part of it with you! It was an absolute pleasure, and we really enjoyed it! Hope you enjoy all of these photos!
